Microsoft Communicator For Mac
Microsoft Communicator for Mac 13.1.1 Back end is Lync. Edge servers deployed. Lync client for PCs works with no issues. Two issues with the Mac client: 1) When attempting to login without VPN, client takes 80 seconds to login. When VPN client is used, login is roughly 5-10 seconds (pretty quick) Any ideas what the Mac client is looking for specifically? 2) When Mac client logs in from internet (no VPN) I can make and receive phone calls. Voice works great.
When I engage our VPN client (Cisco AnyConnect) and attempt to make a phone call, the call will seemingly connect to the far side, but there will be no voice, and within a few moments the call drops. I've run traces but don't really see any errors Any pointers? Hi,Skippy, Have you fixed your issue already?
I supposed that your MAC client still use DNS cache for nslookup, you need clear the cache and try again. About how to clear DNS cache on MAC client please refer the following link or post your question to MAC forum Hope this useful! This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. I think I came across the same problem as Skippy's #2 issue.
Here's how I solved it (disclaimer: I'm not an OCS/Lync admin, just a regular user). When I analyzed my firewall logs, I discovered that, in addition to accessing Exchange and OCS servers, my computer was accessing an SIP server as well.
When not connected to VPN, this connection was to a public IP address (clearly). Once I connected our VPN, I noticed this connection switched to a private IP — and I experienced the same problems with phone calls when I was trying to communicate to that private IP. My solution: I modified my '/private/etc/hosts' file to force my Mac to always use that public IP address when connecting to that SIP server. Now I have complete telephony function, with and without VPN. Sorry I can't give you more details about WHAT each of these servers are — as again, I'm not an OCS admin. But, if you're already familiar with WireShark, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
Hope this helps! Hi,Skippy, Have you fixed your issue already?
