Story Links McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College men's basketball program has signed another four student-athletes for the 2016-17 season as announced by Head Coach Tim Swartzendruber; Cody Casey, Cain Fowles, Stefan Krsmanovic, and Garrett Owen are all headed to McPherson in the fall. Cody Casey (5-9, 160lbs., Fr., PG, Hutchinson, Kan.

/ Nickerson High School) Casey is a 5-9 point guard that makes his way to MC after playing for Nickerson High School and Coach Pete Herrera; he was a three-year letterman for the Panthers. A Hutchinson, Kansas native, Casey averaged 14.2 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals during his time at Nickerson. He was voted All-CKL point guard in 2016 following his senior season. Casey received the Excellence in Academics and Athletics award from 2012 to 2016 and also made the Nickerson HS Honor Roll all four years. Cody is the son of Debbie and Larry Casey and will major in business management at Mac. 'Cody is a product of a great program at Nickerson directed by McPherson College alum Pete Herrera,' said Coach Swartzendruber.

'He has shown toughness and versatility in his high school career. Cody is an outstanding student and was very active at Nickerson High School. We are grateful he chose McPherson to continue his academic and athletic career.'

Cain Fowles (6-3, 185lbs., Fr., G, Solomon, Kan. / Solomon High School) A 6-3 guard, Fowles brings size to the guard position for the Bulldogs. He comes from Solomon, Kansas where he played for the Gorillas and Coach Gary Shelton. Fowles averaged five points, four assists, four steals, and three rebounds a game throughout his career at Solomon High School. He was voted all-league honorable mention following both his junior and senior seasons. Fowles is a member of National Honor Society. The son of Brent and Paula Fowles, Cain anticipates majoring in biology during his time at McPherson.

'Cain is a great all-around athlete,' Commented Swartzendruber. 'He has a lot of upside and can play several positions. He played on a great team this year and is a leader. We are thrilled he chose to attend McPherson College and be a part of our basketball program.' Stefan Krsmanovic (6-9, 230lbs., RS-Fr., F, Gornji Milanovac, Serbia / Fort Hays State University.) Krsmanovic is a native of Gornji Milanovac, Serbia and comes to McPherson after red-shirting for the NCAA D-II Fort Hays State University Tigers. He played the power forward or center positions for his high school Gimnazija Takovski ustanak Gornji Milanovac.

Stefan is the son of Aleksander and Marija Krsmanovic and is a biology major. 'Stefan has the potential to be the best big man in the KCAC,' said Coach Swartzendruber. 'He is extremely skilled and has the work ethic to show improvement from day one. Stefan has had great coaching in Serbia, and spent a year at Fort Hays where he competed versus some outstanding post players each day. We are honored and thrilled to have him become a Bulldog.' Garrett Owen (5-9, 160lbs., Fr., PG, Woodward, Okla.

/ Woodward High School) Owen will travel from Woodward, Oklahoma to make his way to McPherson College. He was a four-year player for Coach Greg Uribe and Woodward HS. As a Boomer, Owen totaled 1200 career points; he knocked down 39% from three-point range as well as 83% from the foul stripe. He ended his time at Woodward with over 500 steals and averaged six assists per game. Owen received a variety of postseason honors including making the 2015-16 PrepHoops Oklahoma Top-25 list. He was also a first team all-conference selection following both his junior and senior seasons.

Owen was a member of both the National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society all four years at Woodward and earned the Golden 'W' Award four times as well. He was voted 'Mr.

Boomer' by the 2016 senior class and was also a student representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Garrett is the son of Jeff and Amanda Owen and plans on majoring in biology at MC.

'Garrett is a tremendous addition to our basketball program and college,' said Coach Swartzendruber. 'Not only is he one of the top players in Oklahoma this year, he is an outstanding student with plans to become a doctor. His high academic performance and character make him a great fit for McPherson.
